I believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic bond – I have experienced it as a client and I am privileged to share it with my own clients. Life is ever-changing. With that change comes struggle, challenge, failure and crisis. All of these things are essential to evolve. These changes require guidance and sometimes healing. Therapy is for everyone and it is critical that your therapist understands you, your identities, and your life story. Therapy isn’t a place for you to have to educate, but be supported and known. When you are in therapy with me, you will be seen. There will be no gates to keep in my office. Because everything in our lives grows from the base of our relationships, my practice is deeply rooted in family systems. I do not see therapy as something for the “afflicted”, I see it as a vehicle to help us reach our highest potential psychologically and relationally.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois working with people from age 5 through age 65 of all races, genders, sexual orientation, and cultures. I received my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University. Throughout my internship and clinical practice, I have developed skills working with children living with ADHD, gender identity exploration, behavioral problems, depressive disorders and anxiety. I have also cultivated a specialty in working with Transgender and genderqueer teens and young adults as well as non-traditional relationship systems. My other areas of expertise are working with families of addiction and/or mental illness, couples counseling, anxiety/depression, mood issues, and life transitions.
I am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and am part of Lurie Children’s Hospital Gender Non-Conforming Clinicians Collaborative. I serve on the Board of Directors for Youth Outlook, a non-profit organization focused on keeping LGBTQIA++ youth safe, alive and thriving. Outside of the office, I am usually found visiting my college kids, playing with my dog, Frank, or working on a house project. I love trash tv and YA novels, specifically those that are LGBT focused… I am not ashamed that I am a streaming junkie.

My therapeutic approach comes from psychodynamic, cognitive, and attachment theoretical frameworks; this work is my passion, and my clients describe my style as warm and authentic.
