Frequently Asked Questions

Is therapy a sign of weakness?

Facing problems, emotions, feelings and trauma head-on takes an incredible amount of strength. Sometimes it is more comfortable or feels safer to avoid the things that cause us pain. But do those things ever really go away just because you don’t want to face them? The answer is no. Seeking help requires courage and strength. There is nothing weak about wanting to feel better.

How long does therapy usually take?

The answer to this question depends on you and what your needs are. This will also depend on what level of improvement you are looking for and what change truly means to you. Typically, clients will see their therapist once a week for anywhere from three months to a year or more. The frequency will also depend on how quickly you and your therapist work through your obstacles and toward your goals.

Does JCA Mental Health take health insurance?

Yes! We take insurance and are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Aetna and United Healthcare. We recommend that you verify your health insurance policy before coming to therapy. As a member, your insurance company will give you much more detailed and accurate information. Our Business Manager will check all health benefits and provide a quote to your therapist prior to your first visit.

What if I don't have health insurance?

If you will be paying for out-of-pocket services, we do provide the cash rates listed below. We may also have the flexibility to negotiate an out-of-pocket rate based on a sliding fee scale with the support of interns, when available.

Initial Visit $150

Subsequent Visits for Individuals and Couples $130

Family Counseling $140

What are your hours and availability?

We work hard to be available when and where you need us. We currently have a number of full-time and part-time therapists who provide in-person counseling at our Naperville office and telehealth sessions online. We operate seven days a week (depending on the therapist) and have morning, daytime, and evening times available. We are confident that we can accommodate any scheduling needs you might have. Contact us to request an appointment that fits your schedule.

Can you help me with my unique problems?

At JCA Mental Health, we see all individuals as unique and therefore treat each and every problem with a unique and individualized approach. Our therapists have a wide range of identities, expertise, and additional training in many unique areas. Because this is an individual process, we will learn and grow alongside you as you work toward the desired change you are seeking.

Does therapy really work?

In short, yes! When there is a desire to change and true commitment to the process, then yes, therapy works. It is not an easy journey, and there will be bumps in the road, but with the support and guidance of your counselor, therapy can provide you with the tools and skills to create lasting change. All of us are ever-changing and growing in this unpredictable world. Our therapists are here to help you learn to navigate difficult times in a healthy, constructive way.

No Problem. JCA Mental Health can submit out-of-network claims to almost any insurer electronically or via paper. We will work with you to determine benefits to the best of our ability so you can make a choice that fits your life and your budget.
